Where the 30 km line comes from

Distance is measured as a straight line, close to 18.6 miles, from the Capitol district downtown to the middle of each ZIP code. Any ZIP whose centre sits inside that circle is listed. Three neighbouring ZIPs just beyond it, Leander, Hutto and Dripping Springs, are listed too, because homes there book through the same Austin crews.

Straight lines ignore lakes, river crossings and the I-35 jam, so a drive to the outer edge can take far longer than the map suggests. Lake Travis in particular turns a short hop into a long detour.

How to read the map

The big marker in the middle is downtown. Each smaller marker is a place with its own page: the darker ones are Austin districts, the lighter ones are suburbs. Two dashed rings show 15 km and 30 km. Tap a marker to open that place.

Places near the outer ring, Cedar Creek, Lago Vista and Hutto for example, are served on the same terms as those beside downtown. Same-day visits out there simply lean harder on how full the day already is.

What being on the list means

If your ZIP appears, the number on that page connects you with a team that works your area. A listing is not a promised arrival window; that depends on the day, the weather and how many heaters failed during the same cold snap.

Austin proper is broken into eight district pages on purpose. A 1920s bungalow in Hyde Park, a 1970s slab ranch in Oak Hill and a two-storey in Steiner Ranch rarely fail in the same way, and one page cannot describe all three well.

Addresses beyond the ring

Georgetown, San Marcos, Bastrop and similar towns are not covered by pages here. If you live past the line, ring the number below anyway and give your ZIP; the answer will say whether a crew reaches you.

Common questions, answered

How far out from downtown Austin do you work?

Around 30 kilometres in a straight line, roughly 18 miles. That reaches 61 ZIP codes in Travis, Williamson, Hays and Bastrop counties, from Round Rock in the north to Kyle in the south and from Lakeway in the west to Manor in the east.

My town is not named on this page. Am I covered?

Look your ZIP up in the table on the ZIP code page. Some ZIPs sit under a neighbouring page, such as 78729, which is grouped with Northwest Austin even though part of it is in Williamson County. If it is not listed, ring and ask; a crew occasionally reaches just beyond the line.

Why are Georgetown and San Marcos left out?

Both lie more than 40 kilometres from downtown Austin, beyond the radius this site is built on. Crews based around Austin seldom travel that far for a single heater, so plumbers closer to those towns are a better fit.
